Grow, Design and Drink at the Living Bar
Part greenhouse, part speakeasy: debuting at DENFAIR 2019 is a curious installation taking local food sourcing to the next level.
Melbourne designer Adam Cornish has teamed up with green wall specialists Junglefy to create a lush living cocktail bar that grows its own ingredients. An event exclusive project, The Living Bar is constructed from thousands of live plants, comprising 25 different species and including edible seasonal varieties.
“The idea was to grow a living, edible structure from plants that combines the good health benefits of biophilic design, with a contemporary take on urban farming and food production,” says Adam.
The bar’s cocktail menu will be created to showcase these edible botanicals, which are currently being cultivated in the lead up to DENFAIR. These will be gradually harvested from the bar walls during the three-day event, making for a dynamic installation that will change with every drink.
As part of The Living Bar experience, visitors will also be invited to make use of a new seating and table collection, developed by Adam Cornish Design.
